A burned body found in an abandoned sport utility vehicle last Thursday is believed to be connected with a multi-state drug case. The victim, a black male still unidentified as of Monday, was found in the vehicle in north Fayette County, just off Kenwood Road between Ga. highways 314 and 279. If dental records cannot be found, it may be necessary to use DNA testing to establish identification, which could take several weeks, according to Maj. Bruce Jordan of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. "We think it was a drug-related homicide involving several other states," said Jordan, adding that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was also involved in the case because of other jurisdictions being involved. Jordan said it appears unlikely that Fayette County is involved in the case at all except as the dumping ground for the body. The victim was believed at first to have multiple bullet wounds, but it was later determined that there was only a single bullet. Based on evidence found outside the county, there is a lead that could result in identification being made before resorting to DNA testing, Jordan said.
