Letter from a Reader

[an error occurred while processing this directive]
As I prepare to move out of Coweta County, I feel compelled to write and express thoughts I have long suppressed because I did not want to be harassed by our local politicians over criticizing their outrageous behavior.

Having lived in this county my entire life, I have seen this community rapidly deteriorate over the last few years. It is ridiculous the way the county commission has allowed expansion of this area with no regard as to a plan of rational behavior.

I have long followed politics and have witnessed countless citizens ridiculed for appearing before the commission with questions as to the practicality of zoning decisions. I have heard our commissioners express such thoughts as we have no right to deny a property owner the right to make a million dollars, anyone criticizing the board better watch their speed driving through this county, East Coweta needs more shopping, etc.

There must be a reason that these commissioners are acting so irresponsibly. Possibly a look at the collective land holdings of this group might reveal some insight as to why actual constraints on growth are not taking place.

I am moving to southern Georgia in a quest for the life I once had here in Coweta. This group (commissioners) will be replaced as the people recognize what a mess has been created by the commission. Citizens all over Atlanta are recognizing that the environment must be preserved. This commission preserves nothing. Take pride, commissioners, you have created another Union City.
