Coweta's middle school students could see a new schedule next year, if the Coweta County Board of Education gives its approval to a new system.

Superintendent of Education Richard Brooks confirmed the school system is looking at a modified block scheduling system for the county's middle school students. The county implemented block scheduling in the county's three high schools this fall and the results have been encouraging.

Under a proposal being examined by the school board, the middle school scheduled would have more class minutes allotted to language and math classes.

"We're exploring all our options to see what we can do to strengthen those areas," Brooks said.

The board of education has scheduled a 6 p.m. meeting April 12 at the school system's Jackson Street office to discuss the block scheduling. Brooks encourages all interested parents and students to show up at the meeting and let the board members know their opinion on the issue.
