The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce is holding its yearly membership drive this month. Chamber members are seeking out local business owners to join the organization that is the "voice of business" in Fayette County.

The chamber helps area businesses network throughout the community. Some of the more successful activities of the chamber have been the Business After Hours program and Quarterly Membership Breakfasts.

The newest networking promotion is the Fayette First Rewards program. This new program provides added value to a membership and tangible benefits for participation.

For further information, call a staff member at 770-461-9983 or e-mail the chamber at fayettechamber@mindspring.com.

Rockdale Hospital and Health System has named Peachtree City resident Mark Geiger as assistant director of public relations. Geiger's responsibilities include media relations and internal and external communications.

Geiger comes to Rockdale following 10 years of active duty with the U.S. Army where he worked in several public relations positions in the U.S. and overseas.

"I believe my military experience and the places I've been such as Haiti, Bosnia and Honduras gave me a greater appreciation for life and how to compassionately deal with others who have been through some rough times," he said. "I'm looking forward to working with the employees, patients and community here at Rockdale. I also want to continue to get the word out regarding the great work and quality of care that is provided here."

Geiger's military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, five Army Commendation medals, three Army Achievement medals and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
