Arkansas-based Acxiom Corporation, which stores and processes data from hundred of
sources, said more than 114,000 Georgia households
have incomes more than 100,000. The figure
represents an increase of 51.7 percent since 1990 and
Acxiom expects the figure to reach 120,000 by the end of
the decade.
Fulton County had the state's highest portion
of six-figure households, followed by Fayette and
Cobb counties. Liberty County had the lowest portion,
the survey said.
More than 5 percent of the state's household
have six-figure incomes, up from 3.6 percent in
1990. Nationally, the figure is 6 percent, up from
4.4 percent at the beginning of the decade.
The top five counties in the state with most households with incomes over $100,000 are:
"The six-figure income category is
Georgia's fastest growing. It's clear that the state's
economic growth has pushed many households into
six-figure territory, and that some high-income
households have moved in from other parts of the country,"
said Acxiom's Donald Hinman.
