Admission to Reach for the Stars, sponsored by the school's PTO, is free. The carnival will feature 12 booths with a nominal fee for each activity. At the close of the carnival (7 p.m.), "Flash" the Yo-Yo champion will demonstrate and entertain with his yo-yo tricks he has been sharing with children for more than 50 years. Tickets for the spaghetti dinner, to be served from 4:30-6:30 p.m., can be purchased that evening and are $3 for an adult's plate and $2 for a child's plate. The silent auction will feature more than 200 items donated by local merchants, national companies, and Braelinn parents, teachers and neighbors. The teachers and administrators have gotten creative with their donations, which range from special trips to having the school's principal, Dr. Bob Martin, come to the child's home to read a bedtime story. Among the items to be auctioned are a Richard Saye Guided Fishing Trip on West Point Lake; a Huffy BMX bike; a soccer ball autographed by Alexi Lalas; a Tom Glavine autographed baseball; an American Girl doll; a chance to fly with the Sky Warriors in a T-34 in an actual dogfight; jewelry, computer training, restaurant certificates, tickets to area attractions, and lots, lots more. Braelinn Elementary is located at 975 Robinson Road. The phone number is 770-631-5410. |
