The Brownsville revival in Pensacola

As the pastor of "His House Community Church," I am always looking for ways to "spiritually" uplift and honor the people that God sends through the doors of our church each week!

We have two very special people that have joined our church who told me when they came to us that they would be in church when they were in town. These two wonderful people love the Lord with all their hearts. Brad and Joy Downs are retired from Delta and they drive trucks together back and forth across these great United States.

Brad was in our Wednesday night Bible study last week, and he and Joy had been to the revival in Pensacola, Fla., and couldn't quit talking about it! He said, "Pastor you must go down and witness this great spiritual event." We talked a little more about it and the more we talked it looked like Thursday, the next day, would possibly work out. I then called our talented senior associate pastor Greg Mausz and he said he could preach for me Sunday, and off we went. If we had planned it six months earlier, it wouldn't have worked any better. We now had Thursday through Sunday to experience one of the greatest revivals in America. This revival has lasted continually for three years and eight months.

I will have to admit I didn't know exactly what to expect, but I knew four things. One, I knew that I trusted our friends' judgement; secondly, that I loved revivals; thirdly, I trusted the wonderful Holy Spirit of God; and lastly, I was very, very hungry for what ever God had to offer me and our church.

This revival began by a church seriously seeking the face of God by praying for revival and by stepping out in faith. They had invited an evangelist to come for one evening and at that meeting a God-sent revival broke out. They asked this evangelist to stay another night and another and the revival has been in full swing for three years and eight months.

When you study the great revivals in our country, they began with individuals truly repenting of the sin in their lives. There is never revival without much repentance. That's why you don't see a lot of revivals. Most of us are very comfortable in our sins.

Although this revival was not conducted by my denomination, I know I am not the same pastor that I was when I went down there. I know also that our church will never be the same either. I came back totally loving God and the things of God more and more. God is there, drive down there and touch Him and come back to serve Him in your church, your home and in your work place.

Remember! Revival can take place anywhere where God's people will truly repent and want a revival.!
