Evan Yarbrough, son of R.D. and Elaine Yarbrough of Peachtree City, recently attended a six-day program at the National Youth Leadership Forum on Defense, Intelligence and Diplomacy in Washington, D.C. The forum is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to preparing the nation's most promising future civilian and military leaders.

Yarbrough, a junior at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School in northeast Georgia, was featured in Who's Who Among American High School Students, 1998-99, and will be appearing in the school's production of "Hello, Dolly!".

Golda Williams of Fayetteville was honored recently on the occasion of her 100th birthday. The city council proclaimed Feb. 24 as Golda Williams Day and she received a lifetime library membership and a flag that has flown over the nation's capitol. More than 400 family members and friends from several states attended a tea in her honor which featured a display of family portraits, a family album and more.
