Panthers on
torrid scoring pace.

The Starr's Mill Boys soccer team has out scored their opponents 34 to 7 this season. Their latest victim was North Clayton. The first goal came in the first minute of play when Tim Murphy passed to Mikey Hubbard (3 goals/3 assists) who blasted it by the keeper. The second goal came in the third minute of play when Mikey Hubbard assisted the goal by Chris Shaver (3goals/2 assists). The one touch passing and quick movement of the ball confused the North Clayton midfield and defense. By half time the score was 12-0. Contributing to the scoring were: Zach McManus (3), Yu Murakoshi (2),Jared Grace, Eric Simonson, and Tristan Flynn.

The most exciting goal was by keeper Sean Hulse, who was brought out of his goal to take a penalty shot. Sean buried the ball in the side netting. Danny Bates and Don Lambing anchored the defense, while keepers Sean Hulse and Chad Troop recorded the shutout. Jordan Davis, Tim Fevella, and Sammy Chang controlled the midfield by hard tackles and quality passing. The final score was 15-0.

The team starts two freshman, five sophomores and four juniors. Mike Hanie states, " I feel very fortunate, I have a very strong bench. I can substitute and the teams quality of play stays very high." The Panthers are 2-0 in their region and 4-2 overall. The next region games are March 23 at Sandy Creek at 7:30 p.m. and March 26 at home against Woodward Academy at the Baseball/Soccer Complex at 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Panthers of Starr's Mill continued their torrid scoring pace and defeated Jonesboro, 15-0. They outshot the Lady Cardinals, 32-2. Starr's Mill worked on ball controla nd getting the ball to the open player. Alice artin scored five times off of several incredible 1-2-3 combintions. Kacy Murray and Marcy Hubbard both scored twice, while Janet Burke, Lauren Jones, Allison Graham, Jenna McEwan and Amanda Thurber all scored once. Jessica Parsons scored off a penalty kick. The Lady panthers traveled to St. Pius yesterday night and will host Harrison at home on Friday.
