Church Madness has begun

Not only have the NIT and the men's and women's NCAA tournament, but March Madness continues with the Church Basketball League Tournament.

On Monday night, First Methodist handed Woolsey a loss by a score of 53-27. Mike Kofskey scored a game high 17 points for First Methodist. Keith Heflin of Woolsey scored 11 points.

Despite taking an early lead and having Greg Davis score five straight three pointers, Flat Creek lost to Southern Crescent by a score of 64-55. Phillip Browne of Southern Crescent scored 21 of his 23 points in the second half.

Braelinn took huge chunks out of Prince of Peace's 15 point lead but the second half belonged to P.O.P. Dave Rowan had 26 points for Prince of Peace as they went on to win 68-43.

On Tuesday night, First Baptist led Kenwood the entire way but Kenwood kept themselves close. Chad Terry had 16 points for Kenwood but they lost 55-45. Ronnie Chance chipped in 18 for First Baptist.

First Methodist did not score in the first nine minutes of their game with Trinity and trailed by 11 at halftime. They came back in the second half with three-three pointers each from Mike Navarre and Matt Drummond to tie the game at 31 with five minutes to go. They would not score again though and they lost 47-31.

Prince of Peace led the entire game against Providence but Providence did threaten to get back into the game. Kirk Williamson hit three straight three pointers on his way to his game high 18 points. It was not enough, P.O.P. won by a score of 61-47.
