The Peachtree City Tennis Center has hosted a professional tournament
for the last five years. For the last three years, the
Tennis Center has used ticket sales from the tournament
to benefit local charities. This year, the Fifth
Annual Peachtree National Bank Women's Pro Challenge
will benefit the David Harris Jr. Foundation.
The David Harris Jr. Foundation helps Fayette County families that
are battling Leukemia and Cancer. Virgil
Christian, director of the Tennis Center, has known the Harris
family for a while, as well as others that were involved with
the foundation. "We like to help local charities each
year and the Harris Foundation does a lot of good for
the community," said Christian. "This will be a good
thing for everybody involved."
The tournament is set to run from July 19-25.
All ticket proceeds during the seven day event will go
to the foundation. The tournament has had some of
the world's top women tennis players in the past and
this year should be no different. The Tennis Center
has always drawn large crowds for the tournament but
hope to draw their largest crowd yet, this summer. Stay
tuned to the sports section to find the dates that tickets go
on sale or call The Peachtree City Tennis Center at
(770) 486-9474.
