The McIntosh Chiefs improved their record to
3-0 with a win over Upson-Lee last week. Beau Balesky
hit his sixth goal of the season early in the first half and
the Chiefs enjoyed an early 1-0 lead over the Knights
of Upson-Lee until the 17th minute of the second
half. Jared Davis, of Upson-Lee floated a pass over
two McIntosh defenders to a streaking Josh Hudson. Hudson found the back of
the net and the game was tied. The tie was
short-lived though. McIntosh's Matt Clements scored after
getting a brilliant pass from senior Adam Graham. Soon
after, Graham launched a ball deep into the Knights penalty
area. The ball glanced off of an Upson-Lee player
and dribbled into the net, giving the Chiefs a 3-1 lead.
In the 35th minute of the second half, Balesky struck
a hard shot to the back post for his second goal of the
game. Less than a minute later, junior Fabian Lamy
found Matt Clements open for the fifth and final goal of
the night. The Chiefs won by a final score of 5-1.
The Lady Chiefs have been rolling along as
well. They defeated Upson-Lee, 6-0 and then
hammered Lovejoy 15-0. Their two sophomores, Julie Herdic
and Keri Pendergrass have been offensive machines for
the Lady Chiefs. Pendergrass has scored six goals in
three games. They have also got outstanding
performances from freshman sweeper Melanie Schneider.
She scored three goals in the game against
Lovejoy. McIntosh hosted the East Coweta Indians last night.
