In response to Steve Brown's letter to the editor and people of Peachtree City I would like to submit the following. Now some of what was mentioned in Steve's article is true. Yes, it is no secret that Photocircuits, Inc. uses certain chemicals in their manufacturing process, but his fantasies of an apocalyptic disaster are totally off base. His article is doing nothing for this community but providing a source of misinformation and fear for those who live here. Steve states that Photocircuits, Inc. ranks in the top 20 percent of facilities in total production-related waste and total offsite transfer of waste. What he doesn't make clear is that Photocircuits' main office is located in New York and that the plant there is much larger. Therefore, if one were to rank the production facility located here, I am sure that it wouldn't be ranked nearly as high. He goes on to infer that Photocircuits has a fleet of trucks carrying deadly poisonous gas that could kill even the likes of Superman. Steve, get real. I guess you just forgot about the constant transfer of a highly flammable liquid through our city everyday. This chemical is one of the most volatile compounds in the world. It is called gasoline. Yet I am sure that you are not looking to close down every gas station in the city. Have you taken the time to snoop around your local dry cleaning establishment? Do you think they actually use dry hot air to clean your clothes? They use several chemicals that are as disastrous and deadly as those used in even the most dangerous manufacturing facilities. Yes, Steve, this is a planned community. But believe it or not, before all those beautiful planned neighborhoods were constructed, there existed a manufacturing facility that was soon purchased by Photocircuits. Now I don't know about you, but I for one have enough common sense not to buy a $200,000 house right behind an industrial park. Apparently Steve is feeling a little left out or something. Maybe he is planning on running for office. Then he can really pull the wool over your eyes, and even get paid for it! Steve, why don't you look for a real cause to cry about. Things a little more important like our children's education, drugs in the schools, guns in the streets or unfair taxation. Then we will listen. Until then we don't want to hear any more exaggerated tales of our apocalyptic end. Louis Scott
