Keep on building roads, and we'll have Los Angeles air

Letters from Our Readers

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

I find it interesting that the ARC (Atlanta Regional Council) believes that the federal air quality standards are too rigid and should be relaxed.

Possibly the council might consider looking up at the almost ever-present haze enshrouding this area or might check the air pollution indexes.

It is certainly unfortunate that the powers to be cannot recognize that quality of life should overshadow any self-serving desires on their part.

To claim that Atlanta is being placed under a hardship due to federal restrictions on road building, until air quality standards are met, is a disgrace. Let us continue to over-develop with no reasonable controls, and to rip out as many trees as possible, and with any luck we will be able to have year-round air quality alerts more severe than even those in Los Angeles.
