named as new administrator for contractor
W.Wayne Leslie, president and CEO of Fayette
County-based Leslie Contracting has appointed Richard Santiago to the
position of director of administration for the $45 million construction firm.
"AS the company expands, so have the demands on our top
management people," said Leslie. "Richard's background
makes him the ideal candidate to coordinate the various departments,
and allow me more time to do what I do best."
Santiago is the former mayor of Tyrone. He returned to
civilian life in 1996 after serving for 22 years in both the U.S. Army
and the U.S. Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged as a
sergeant and serve one year in japan during his tour.
Prior to moving south, Santiago worked a two-year stint with
the Arizona Highway Patrol.
"I'm very excited about the prospect of working
with Mr.Leslie and helping to grow this company," Santiago
said. "Having worked with him on various projects during the past
couple of years, I've come to greatly respect his corporate philosophy
and the fact that he knows the company is as good as the people
who are employed by it."
According to Leslie, Santiago's years of commanding
various operations within the armed forces are perfect experience for the
variety of duties he will perform with the firm.
In his new position with the company, Santiago will
coordinate projects between various divisions of Leslie, as well as
human resources, marketing and public relations duties.
