Last weekend the Georgia Dome hosted the USA Indoor Track and Field championships. The nations best athletes competed for chances to go to the world trials. Before the grown up athletes competed, the kids with dreams of national and international glory competed. The Starr's Mill Panther track team sent three of it's members; Eva Massmann, Les Page and Reuben Houston, to the Georgia High School Indoor Invitational at the Georgia Dome this past weekend. Coach Stephen Pruitt was very impressed with the effort that his team gave at the meet. Eva Massmann finished the 3000 with a time of 11:26. "That was a really strong showing for this early in the year," said Coach Pruitt. Les Page ran the mile in a time of 4:36, and took fifth place overall. The big winner for Starr's Mill was Reuben Houston. Reuben Houston had a 45'2 triple jump, which was good enough for a second place finish. The jump also broke the school record by two feet. The only schools to defeat the Panthers were mostly AAAA schools. The Starr's Mill track team is heading to Walton today for their first meet of the year.
