The Fayette County Sting, a 12-and-Under girls basketball
team won the 12-and -under championship on Feb. 22, defeating
an outstanding Sparks team. The Sting played the entire
season shorthanded. Coach Robert Carter never expected his team
to endure the exhaustion of competing with only six players, but
to his surprise six was enough. The Sparks' record for the regular
season was 7-3. The team then went undefeated in the playoffs.
The coaches want to thank the parents for a wonderful season and
give an honorable mention to Clara Murphy and Lindsay Gary,
two members of the Sting that were lost during the season.
