Griffin Tourney
The Lady Panther J.V. soccer team added more hardware to
the trophy case by winning the 6th annual Griffin J.V.
Tournament. After Wednesday's 11-0 win over Newnan, the girls followed
with two hardfought wins over McIntosh and Heritage. The
game against McIntosh featured brilliant team play by the defense
and outstanding goalkeeping by Kristen Rutland. The game
was scoreless through regulation play and went to a shootout. The
Lady Panthers won 3-0 in the shootout, with goals from Marcy
Hubbard, Sara McLaughlin and Megan Buchanon. In their final game
of the tournament Starr's Mil faced Heritage. The game was
scoreless until the final minute of regulation. Lee Ann Kornacky
scored off of a corner kick taken by Alicia Schulz. In between
tournament games, the Lady panthers also defeated Marist 3-0 on
Friday night. Marcy Hubbard, Nancy Padavano and
Joanna Craver each scored a goal. The defense has not allowed a goal
in four games.
