Men's conference gets 'to the point'

"Men to Men: to the Point," a national men's spiritual leadership conference, is coming to Fayetteville May 7-8.

The conference is billed as an event "not for the man who is interested in 'playing church,'" but for the man "willing to face head-on the call of being the leader God wants you to be." Integrity Men's Ministry of New Hope Baptist Church is hosting the conference, sponsored by the Men's Leadership Ministries out of Bryan, Texas.

Founder and chairman of Men's Leadership Ministries, Steve Farrar author of "Point Man: How a Man Can Lead His Family," "Anchor Man" and other best-sellers will speak on Finishing Strong: How a man can go the distance and finish strong in triumph instead of tragedy. Author and pastor Stu Weber will speak on Four Times a Man: How to build soul-shaping, brother-to-brother relationships. President of Men's Leadership Ministries and national speaker Dean Gage will discuss Being a Spiritual Leader: How a man can build the seven traits of Christian leadership into his life and family.

"We are praying that we will have 2,000 men in attendance," said New Hope's conference chairman, Woody Johnson, "and we want the men of Fayette County to be part of what God is doing." He is currently setting up the leadership team for the conference and invites any interested men to call him.

The conference is $50, or $40 for full-time students, and is $10 less with early registration. The cost includes all conference sessions, lunch on Saturday and a conference manual. On-site registration begins Friday, May 7 at 6 p.m. at New Hope, 551 New Hope Rd., Fayetteville. The event schedule is Friday from 7-10 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
