A new steak restaurant/sports bar is taking the place of the defunct Lil Memphis Blues Cafe in Fayetteville.

Nick's Steakhouse/Sports Cafe will have one television with an 80-inch screen, plus additional TV sets, two pool tables and "kids' games," said owner Ronald Chafin.

"We're planning to have a nice, family atmosphere," he said.

Fayetteville City Council Monday approved a provisional beer and wine license so the restaurant can open this week. Chafin said he hopes to be open by today.

"We'll have the best steaks and seafood in Atlanta," he said, adding that the restaurant managed to hire a chef away from one of Atlanta's major chain restaurants.

Country bands on weekends and karaoke Thursday nights also are planned, said Chafin.

The restaurant will seat about 130, he said.
