Pearl Butler

Pearl McEachern Butler, 77, Peachtree City, died Feb. 11, 1999. She was born July 9, 1921 in Fayette County, the daughter of Claude and Anne Harris McEachern.

Services were held at the Higgins & Son Chapel, Fairburn, with the Rev. Donald Lee and the Rev. Milton Winslett officiating. Interment was at the Hopewell Cemetery, Tyrone.

Survivors include brothers Hugh McEachern, Tyrone and Calvin McEachern, Newnan; and sisters, Vivian Whitlock, Peachtree City, Floree Neill, Griffin, Christine Harper, Shenandoah and Mary McMichael, Winter Park, Fla.

Higgins Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge of the arrangements.

Alvin Whitlock

Alvin Eugene Whitlock, 63, Newnan, died Feb. 16, 1999. He was born Nov. 13, 1935 in Fayette County, the son of Alvin and Mattie Mae Belcher Whitlock.

He was a member of the White Oak Grove Baptist Church, was a Mason and a member of the West Georgia Two Cylinder Tractor Club.

Services were held at the Hillcrest Chapel with the Rev. Bob Martin officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Stitcher Whitlock, Newnan; parents, Alvin and Mattie Whitlock; a son, Sonny Whitlock, Newnan; daughters, Susan Gaddy, Newnan and Joy Brown, Senoia; sisters, Betty Smith, Senoia, Shirley Smith, Manchester, and Patricia Jaccaud, Columbus, Ohio.

There are eight grandchildren.

Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, was in charge of the arrangements.

Opal Chapman

Opal Chapman, 84, Newnan, died Feb. 17, 1999. She was born Aug. 10, 1914 in Carroll County, Ga., the daughter of J. Monroe and Effie Mae Williams Herrin.

Graveside services were held at the Oak Hill Cemetery; Newnan, with Dr. Bob Daugherty and the Rev. Willard Dean officiating.

Survivors include a son, Curtis and Mary Chapman, Newnan; a son-in-law, B. C. Hannah, Eatonton, Ga.; a brother, Floyd Herrin, Carrollton; a sister, Zera C. Beall, Griffin; a brother-in-law, Floyd W. "Bud" Jones, Sargent; grandsons, Major R. Wayne Hannah, Jonesboro and Curtis H. Chapman, Jr., Denver, Colo.; granddaughters, Shirley Duncan, Newnan, Patricia Autry, Moreland, Melody L. Hannah, Victorville, Calif. and Melinda Chapman, Moab, Utah.

There are five great-grandsons, five great-granddaughters and five great-greatgrandchildren.

George Jacobs, Sr.

George Jacobs, Sr., 70, Sargent, died Feb. 20, 1999. He was born May 9, 1928 in Coweta County, Ga., the son of the late Earnest and Nellie Short Jacobs. He was a retired maintenance employee of Bibb.

Services were at the Victory Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Milton Winslett and the Rev. Terry Calhoun officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hayes Jacobs, Sargent; children, Barbara Burroughs, Newnan, Carl Jacobs, Sargent, George Jacobs, Jr., Luthersville and Carol Storey, Tallassee, Ala.; sisters, Rosie Ingram and Estelle Farmer, both of Newnan, Ruthie Mae Thompson, Sharpsburg, Mary Meadows, Valley, Ala. and Nellie Tanner, Ardmore, Okla.

There are eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
