Region 4-AAAA, both the boys and girls division, was supposed to be one of the toughest sub-regions in the state in basketball. McIntosh, Fayette County and East Coweta all play in 4-AAAA. The teams looked impressive during the season and with all of the surrounding hype, expectations were inflated. The season came to an end for all of these teams this weekend and it was not a lot of fun.

The Fayette County Lady Tigers faced the Hephzibah Lady Rebels on Friday afternoon and lost 66-42. Hephzibah was the number one seed and possibly the most balanced squad Fayette County saw all year. The inside players for the Lady Rebels had a size advantage over Fayette County, which is a bit surprising as the Lady Tigers are not a small team.

The Lady Tigers led through three quarters but then the game got away from them. Fayette County made some unfortunate turnovers and then was forced to foul. Hephzibah outscored Fayette County 24-4 in the fourth quarter. Becca Grizzard led Fayette County in scoring with 14 points.

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs faced Northeast Macon on Friday and lost by a score of 66-50. McIntosh had a good first half. They led after the first quarter and then trailed by one at the half. Northeast Macon stepped it up in the third quarter, forcing the Lady Chiefs to take bad shots and make turnovers. Northeast Macon led 50-37 at the end of the third quarter and McIntosh was slipping out of the game.

The Lady Chiefs went on a 10-1 run and cut the lead to eight points but a technical foul destroyed any chance of a comeback. Kim Schisler led McIntosh in scoring with 15 points.

McIntosh finished the season with a record of 21-5. The Lady Tigers finished 18-9.
