Businesses throughout the area are participating in the Fayette County American Heart Association's annual Have-A-Heart campaign. They will be selling red hearts for a $1 donation and gold hearts for a $5 donation through Feb. 28. Funds raised will go toward AHA heart disease and stroke research and educational programs. The name of the person purchasing the heart can written on the heart, or the heart may be used to salute a friend or relative who has been touched by heart disease or stroke. "We're hoping to break our previous record of $10,000 in this two-week Have-A-Heart campaign," said Janet McGregor, AHA Southeast board member. "We want to blanket the entire county with hearts and are hoping that many more locations will join us in supporting the fight against heart disease and stroke." For businesses interested in selling the hearts, campaign packets can be picked up from Gold's Gym of Fayette County (formerly Club Peachtree) and Gold's Gym PTC West (formerly GymXpress), or call a committee member for delivery: Janet McGregor, 770-631-9503; J.D. Holmes, 770-631-8319; Marie Schlosser, 770-487-6101; or Cecilia Vaughn, 770-632-9007. |
