Tyrone residents hoping to find out the fate of an empty-nesters community will have to wait until at least Mar. 18. Although the Bob Adams development was originally scheduled to be debated this Thursday, the matter will be tabled until the council's second meeting in March, said town manager Barry Amos. The reason for the delay is the planning commission decided to table the request at its January meeting and will discuss it next week. Adams proposes developing a 172-acre site on Handley Road as a empty-nesters community featuring 257 cluster-type homes on half-acre lots. Thirteen acres on the site would be used for an office and industrial development while Adams pledges to donate 8.9 acres to the town. Among items to be discussed Thursday at 7 p.m. at Town Hall: · Consideration of a resolution supporting a satellite facility of Griffin Tech in Fayette County. Amos said the town will examine supporting the facility wherever it's built in the county. · Awarding a $13,770 bid for signs throughout the town. The new signs would be located at town hall, the police department, Shamrock Park, Redwine Park and Fabon Brown Park. · Authorizing $1,959 to purchase a computer for the police department.
