Lovely Places

Niagara Falls retains its title as one of the nation's most romantic getaway places, but Georgia folks probably don't think about New York in February the Caribbean, maybe.

Metro Atlanta folks are fortunate that dozens of romantic hideaways are available within a few hours' drive, from Jekyll Island to Chattanooga. Some of the lovelier bed-and-breakfasts, albeit without mountain or ocean views, are even closer by: there are three near Palmetto in south Fulton County.

For more adventurous planning for next year, home folks could plan to visit the places with romantic names like Valentine, Nebraska, or Valentine, Texas. There are 10 places around the country with the word "love" in their names, the largest being Loveland, Colorado, with a population of 44,923.

Other places to visit might include Loves Park, Ill.; Lovelock, Nevada; Love Valley, N.C.; Loveland, Ohio; Lovelady, Tex.; Lovettsville, Va.; Loveland, Okla., or Lovell, Wyoming.

Or, if you're on a really tight budget, you could just go down the road to Lovejoy. You have to take your own love with you anyhow.
