Jesus movie project needs prayer support

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

Bigger than "Titanic"! More profound than "Patch Adams"! More breathtaking than IMAX's "Everest"! And now out on video!

It's "Jesus, The Movie"!! Coming to your neighborhood soon!

That's right by April of this year, every home in Georgia will receive "The Jesus Movie," as it is called. And if that's not a miracle, then I wouldn't know one!

I don't know a lot about behind-the-scenes details, but I am assured that plans are under way to mail "The Jesus Movie" to every one of us living in Georgia. What I do know is that one very special person with his love of God and humankind is financially backing this extraordinary project. All I can say is, "That's really cool! ... I mean REALLY COOL!"

But this project is not complete and still needs our help. No, there's no "catch" that hooks us to get out our checkbooks and send our own "faith-seed" money. There's no pitch to take up an extra offering in our churches.

What is asked of us now is simply to pray. Pray alone. Pray in our families. Pray with our friends. And finally, to pray AS A UNIFIED CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY. Pray that the sending and receiving of this modern medium of the "Old, Old Story" might bring peace and hope in homes where only darkness, despair, and indifference now abide.

To expand and strengthen our local effort at this prayer ministry, unofficial and self-appointed representatives of all our churches in this area are invited and encouraged to attend the next "Unity Service" THIS Sunday night, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church , 211 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City (yes, that's tonight). Don't wait for your pastor to ask you or send you, just come!

This "Unity Service/Prayer Rally" will include the outstanding praise and worship music and singing we have become accustomed to in these services, and will also impart information and inspiration to help us launch "Neighborhood Prayer Ministries" specifically for "The Jesus Movie" project.

"However," says our friend Gary Harwell, one of the organizers, "when this project is complete, neighborhood prayer groups don't have to disband. In fact, some groups might just want to stay together praying for their neighborhoods, their community and each other. You never know!"

No, we "never know" exactly what God has in store for us until He reveals it to us in our lives of prayer and service in His Name. But we do know this: God wants to use each of us for His purposes. And so we keep praying and asking, "Lord, what do you want to accomplish through me?"

If you discern that God is wanting to reach out with His love to you and your neighbors through "The Jesus Movie," and that He wants to use YOU to pray about all this, then come tonight!

One more time: Community Unity Service "Praise and Worship/Prayer Rally," Sunday, Feb. 7, 6 p.m., First Baptist Church, 211 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City (off Ga. Highway 54 near the City Hall with the fountain in front).
