Things 'Click'-ing for Heritage

In a very important region basketball contest against Piedmont Academy of Monticello, Heritage senior post player, Amanda Click, led the team with 15 points and 15 rebounds to give the Lady Hawks of Heritage their 11th win of the season. The win put Heritage in a tie for second place in region standings with only one short week left.

Click was unstoppable in the first quarter, grabbing offensive rebounds for scores and leading the team in scoring with six points. Fortunately for Heritage, the rest of the team was inspired by Click's play and added eight points to bring the score to 14-3.

The Hawks hit a slump in the second quarter, only managing six points in the second quarter. Three of those points came from Click. The Lady Hawks clung to a seven point lead at the half.

The Lady Hawks came out on fire in the second half, pouring in 18 points and holding Piedmont to only nine points. Click once again led the team in scoring, combining shots from the floor and the charity stripe. In the fourth, the Lady Hawks of Heritage continued their dominance over the Lady Cougars, coasting to the buzzer with a 51-33 victory.

"It was an exciting win for us. We have put three games together and are really coming on strong for the region tournament," states Coach Judy Griffith. Click has led the Lady Hawks all season in scoring and rebounding.

"Amanda is such a good all-around player. She has size, can dribble, rebound and is an excellent passer. She is a complete player," states Coach Simone DuPree. "This will help her if she chooses to continue her game at the college level."

So far, Amanda has been approached by Rhodes College in Memphis and Emory University in Atlanta.
