Thanks to volunteers for planting 1,000 nature preserve trees

On behalf of the Peachtree City Beautification Committee and Southern Conservation Trust, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the volunteers who helped to plant approximately 1,000 trees in the Line Creek Nature Area on Saturday, Jan. 16.

Notice of the annual event went out in December, and the response was overwhelming. Over 60 volunteers of all ages arrived Saturday morning, shovels in hand, to make speedy work of planting the trees acquired from the Forestry Service. Two volunteers even brought additional tree seedlings they had from their own property.

As a result of the large turnout, the planting was finished by about approximately 10:30, rather than the usual noon cutoff. Many of the volunteers were also able to preview the trails along the creek that will be part of the Line Creek Nature Area, which is being managed and made accessible buy Southern Conservation Trust.

Unfortunately, we did not get all the names of our volunteers, but the smiling faces and willing spirits were much appreciated that morning, as they will continue to be as the trees we planted grow through the years.

To all of those who attended and helped, we thank you.
