In your artcle, "Shine," you have noted that Williams Ballard was sheriff of Fayette County in the late 1930s.

My grandfather, M.G. Sams, was elected sheriff in 1937 and served until the early 1940s. He resigned during his second term and Mr. Ballard ran and was elected.
