Stocking up in advance of Y2K is simply insurance

Letters from Our Readers

In response to the letter recently submitted by Pepper Adams with regard to Y2K:

Do you, or do you not, have any insurance? Homeowner's insurance in case of fire or storm damage; life insurance to provide for your family should you leave this world at a young age; car insurance in case someone hits you, or worse yet, you hit them?

Stocking provisions is simply our insurance policy against any havoc Y2K may wreak. There is nothing else I, personally, can do to keep Y2K from coming.

I don't understand how extra food items, water, batteries, kerosene, etc., in my home can be "part of the problem" or how it wastes "everyone's time." It is the prudent thing to do.

In defense of Christians wanting to be prepared for a great opportunity to witness, don't you think about what you might do if something happens (i.e., how to spend a million dollars if you win the lottery, what kind of party to have if the Falcons win the Super Bowl)?

We are merely preparing for what may happen. If next January, you are cold, hungry, and thirsty because the "doomsayers" irked you enough that you failed to prepare, look me up. I'll witness to you over a hot meal in a warm home.
