I do not appreciate the way you have handled the publication of the candlelight vigil held in honor of Beverley Watson. From my understanding, you now know from the mouth of Jim Watson that he was out of town the weekend of the vigil. Therefore, he could not have been at his house during the ceremony held in front of his house. After Jim told you he was out of town, your paper proceeded to call the Fayette County Sheriff's Department to ask them if this was so. Upon the Sheriff's Department telling you basically that Jim was lying and that he was in town, you refused to reprint Jim's request for a new article. I think Jim would know a lot better about his whereabouts than the Sheriff's Department. And by the way, I am Jim's sister. I was the one on the inside of Jim's house that night along with my husband, baby and parents. So we also better than anyone else know what we are talking about when we say, "Jim and his kids were out of town from Saturday to Tuesday." I, along with my dad, was the one that extinguished the candles. The candles were placed at the edge of the street right next to Jim's yard (a pinestraw bed). We waited until the crowd was gone from in front of the house and then proceeded out to extinguish the flames to prevent any possible fires. We were not doing anything to disturb those coming to honor Beverley. For those who were there for that reason only (to honor and remember Beverley) we were supportive and glad they came out.
