A request to lift the city's moratorium on rezoning for multifamily uses will be heard Thursday by the Peachtree City Council.

Pathway Communities is seeking a rezoning on Ga. Highway 74 at Aberdeen Parkway to develop an assisted living facility. Jerry Peterson of Pathway says that the planned use would be similar to the Ashley Glen residential home on Stevens Entry, and is being developed by Grand Court Inc.

Council action would be only on whether to lift the moratorium to consider changing the zoning from general commercial to limited use commercial (LUC), Peterson said, one of only two zoning designations which allow assisted living homes. The surrounding area is commercial, he added.

If council agrees to consider the application, then the process of rezoning would start through the Peachtree City Planning Commission, Peterson added.

Other items set for the 7 p.m. meeting at City Hall include an ordinance change in the council's meeting time adjournment requirement; an update on the city's short-term work program; award of a state contract to purchase a dump truck for public works, and an alcohol license for Carolinas Mexican Restaurant.
