A three-story, 63-unit hotel, 6,000 square feet of shops and a 6,500-sq. ft. restaurant are planned across from New Hope Road on Ga. Highway 85 north.

The Fayetteville Planning Commission discussed the plan recently but delayed action until alater meeting.

Developer Bob Howell has applied for a change in zoning category from residential to commercial for 4.9 acres on the east side of Hwy. 85 for the project. Howell has said that he envisions the hotel as an extended-stay facility geared toward business travelers.

City manager Mike Bryant has met with Howell and suggested he change the plan to a two-story hotel with no extended stay, and apply for business park zoning rather than commercial for the front portion of the development.
