Developers hope to start construction on Fayetteville's Lowe's superstore within a month or so, now that plans for the store have been approved.

"It's been a long time coming," said Van Westmoreland of JDN Development Corp., the company that has been working for about two years to bring the home improvement giant to the city.

The store will be between Ga. highways 314 and 85, next to Banks Crossing shopping center to the north.

The 115,000-sq. ft. store will face south, toward Banks Crossing. Entrances are planned from both state highways, with driveways connecting Lowe's to Banks Crossing. Future plans include additional shops on JDN's 33-acre site, but details aren't decided yet, said Westmoreland.

Extensive landscaping, including buffers between the project and church property to the north, are part of the approved plan.
