If chips and dip in front of your 18-inch color screen don't measure up to your idea of a Super Bowl celebration, there are a number of sports havens and restaurants in the area gearing up to party hearty on Saturday and Sunday.

Fans can kick-off the big game weekend Saturday at Buffalo's Cafe in Fayetteville and win Falcon merchandise in the establishment's big giveaway. Pregame festivities will be broadcast between noon and 6 p.m. on Sunday. No alcohol will be served on Sunday according to city ordinance.

"Everybody's a Falcon these days," according to Shawn Burgess, general manager of the Y-Knot Sports Bar in Peachtree City. "People hardly ever watched the Falcons before," he said, recalling the days prior to the team's meteoric rise to the Super Bowl. "It's been good for business," Burgess added. "We had at least 80 people waiting to get in a couple weekends ago," he said of the playoff game between the Falcons and Vikings.

Y-Knot opens at 3 p.m. Sunday and fans will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Specials on beer and food will be featured, along with an interactive trivia game. For $10, trivia buffs can enter and compete against patrons at other sports bars with a $600 prize at stake.

Partners Pizza, just a few doors down from the Y-Knot, hopes to attract some of the overflow crowd, said owner Marilyn Royal. One room at Partners features a large-screen TV and games, making it a good choice for family Super Bowl viewing.

The Wyndham's sports venue, Billiards, at their conference center in Peachtree City, will host a party which includes beer specials and a buffet, reported bartender Jeff Felmet. In addition to the standard size TV's in place, Billiards will add a large-screen model for the occasion. Finally, Hooters in Newnan will be open Sunday from noon until 11 p.m. for food and football via satellite. General manager Tom Coleman said that Hooters and Miller Light have teamed up for a $2 million promotion with lots of giveaways and beer specials throughout the weekend.
