Three Medicare scams confirmed in Georgia

The following three Medicare scams have been confirmed in Tennessee and Georgia.

· A well-dressed an is going door-to-door telling people he will "change over" their Medicare from traditional Medicare to Medicare + Choice for a fee of $60. He is also asking people for their social Security and/or Medicare number.

· Multiple Medicare beneficiaries are receiving calls from people trying to make an appointment with them to come to their home to "fix their Medicare" or their Medicare card.

· Mutiple Medicare beneficiaries have received calls from people offering to "help them with their Medicare" and are asking for their credit card number.

Please be advised that:

· No Medicare official makes home visits to "fix" problems or offer health care services or items.

· No Medicare official charges any amount to "fix" Medicare problems.

· All Medicare beneficiaries, or those persons responsible, should guard their Medicare number and Social Security number as securely as they would guard a credit card number.

Immediately report any incidents of this nature to your Medicare contractor. If possible, obtain the telephone number and name of the caller or organization the called claims to be representing.
