New shopping choice comes to town

Fayette County's newest grocery store will throw open its doors for business tomorrow.

A 62,000-square-feet Winn-Dixie Marketplace & Food Pavilion at 12160 County Line Road will start welcoming shoppers at 7 a.m. and a ribbon cutting is set for 8:30 a.m.

The store is Winn-Dixie's largest and most convenient store design and offers shoppers a variety of supermarket products and specialized services.

"The Winn-Dixie Marketplace & Food Pavilion is our most advanced store design and we are extremely proud to bring it to this region of Fayetteville, an area we have served for over 14 years," said J.T. White, president, Winn-Dixie Atlanta. "By increasing convenience and expanding selection, the new store offers consumers a quick, one-stop shopping experience."

The supermarket features self check-out lanes. The technology is designed to increase customers' confidence in scanning accuracy by allowing them to scan their own merchandise, which is then placed on a conveyor belt where lasers check and record prices against a master computer file.

A cashier monitors the procedure, assists customers as needed and accepts payment for purchases. The new technology also helps speed up the check out procedure, while providing an option to using the store's traditional cashier check out lanes.

The Food Pavilion brings many specialty departments into one area of the store including a deli staffed by a professional chef who makes original recipes, oversees food preparation and offers customers menu planning tips.

Shoppers can choose hometown favorites, traditional cuisine or international cuisine, from Italian to Wok Shop prepared, made-to-order, Oriental stir-fry entrees and side dishes.

Other store departments include: produce, with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables; fruit bar, offering fresh fruit salads, chilled and sliced in many combinations; floral, featuring a wide selection of cut flower arrangements and bouquets, potted plants and balloons; bakery, with baked goods including breads, rolls, cakes, cookies, doughnuts and other desserts; salad bar, where customers can create their own salad; Fisherman's Wharf Seafood, featuring fresh fish and seafood such as shrimp, crab, crawfish and Maine lobster and Prestige Meat, with seasoned and marinated meats ready for preparation.

The supermarket is also equipped with a full-service pharmacy, staffed by a licensed pharmacist who fills prescriptions and offers information on over the counter remedies.

The store is staffed by an experienced management team, presided over by location manager Steve Futral. Store hours are 6 a.m.-12 a.m. daily, with pharmacy hours from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m.-5 p.m. on Sundays.
