The Chick-fil-A chain has announced that Tyrone resident Shelly Moore has been selected to receive one of its $1,000 Leadership Scholarships.

Moore was nominated by her employer, Doug Mickey, manager of the Fayetteville Chick-fil-A Dwarf House restaurant, where more than $80,000 in scholarship money has been awarded to employees. Moore is pursuing a degree in accounting at Gordon College in Barnesville.

Charles Elfer of Fayetteville was honored as a scholarship recipient at the University of Southern Mississippi during a series of receptions this past fall.

Elfer, 20, a sophomore anthropology major, received the LDDS Scholarship. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Elfer.
