Navy Airman Jason L. Williams, son of Sherri Williams of Fayetteville, recently completed a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, home ported in Norfolk, Va. While deployed, Williams' ship participated in numerous large-scale military exercises, including Matador Livex and Dynamic Mix '98. During these exercises, Williams and crew members worked with the military forces in 11 NATO countries to improve interoperability, flexibility and mobility of multinational forces. Williams, a 1998 graduate of East Coweta High School, joined the Navy in July 1998. Air Force Airman Jill B. Chang, daughter of Yvonne Chang of Peachtree City, has graduated from the operations resource management systems apprentice course at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss. Students were taught database maintenance, aircrew resource management, flying hours, training and evaluation, and flight scheduling. Chang is a 1998 graduate of Sandy Creek High School. Air Force Senior Airman Mark K. Ryan has been named Airman of the Quarter. Selection was based on exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement and other accomplishments. Ryan, a 1990 graduate of Fayette County High School, is a space systems technician with the 4th Space Surveillance Squadron, Hollomon Air Force Base, Alamogordo, N.M. He is the son of Eva Webb of Fayetteville and James Ryan of McDonough. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher A. Marks, son of Robert and Brenda Marks of Peachtree City, recently completed a two-month deployment in the Eastern Pacific Ocean aboard the destroyer USS Fife, home ported in Everett, Wash. The 1994 graduate of McIntosh High School joined the Navy in January 1996. |
