There was no home field advantage for Fayette County or McIntosh Friday evening, when the two teams collided for the first time this year at the Kedron Aquatic Center. Both teams use the Aquatic Center as their practice and home facility.

The Chiefs dominated last Friday's matchup against Fayette County with the men posting an 87-32 victory and the women winning by a 108 to 62 margin.

The McIntosh men claimed first place in every individual and relay event. Winning two individual events each were seniors Keith Hudson (200 freestyle, 100 backstroke) and Andy Brokish (200 individual medley and 100 freestyle) and freshman Alex Puig(50 freestyle and 100 butterfly). Junior Chris Jobson won the 100 breaststroke and freshman George Clark took first in the 500 yard freestyle.

The 200 yard medley relay combo of Hudson, Jobson, Puig and Brokish claimed the top spot in that event. The 200 freestyle relay was won by Captain Aaron Reddy, Hudson, Puig and Brokish in a state qualifying time of 1:40.21, and the team of Clark, Jobson, Billy Whitehouse and Matt Prab nabbed first place in the 400 yard freestyle relay.

At this point in the swim season, the Chiefs have qualified Andy Brokish for the State Championships in the 100 yard freestyle and 200 yard individual medley. Relay qualifiers include team captain Reddy, Hudson, Puig and Brokish in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

The Lady Chiefs faced some aggressive competition from the Lady Tigers. Individual event winners for McIntosh include sophomore Molly MacGregor (200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke) and freshman Annya Lee (50 freestyle and 100 butterfly). Junior Kumiko Mase swam a strong second place to Fayette's Bridgette Farley in the 100 freestyle. In the 100 backstroke, Mase's state qualifying time of 1:05.60 earned her second place to Fayette's Kelly Ireland (1:05.31)

Fayette's Calle Fielden won the 200 and 500 yard freestyle events, but was challenged by the McIntosh junior Becky Brokish, who sprinted the last 200 yards of the 500 to close the gap and finish second with a state qualifying time of 5:36.89

The Lady Chiefs team of Mase, MacGregor, Lee and Carly Kleysteuber out paced Fayette's Farley, Ireland, Fielden and Krystal Ham to win the 200 medley relay. Fayette turned the tide in the 200 freestyle relay, with the same group taking first in a time of 1:50.30, over McIntosh's Mary Reebok, Emily Maple, Erin Bartles and Kleysteuber's second place time of 1:51.08. Both times qualify for the state championships. McIntosh's "A" relay of Mase, MacGregor, Brokish and Lee took first in the 400 freestyle relay, followed closely by their "B" relay of Reebok, Kleysteuber, Erin Bittner and Heather Wesley.

The McIntosh women have qualified for the state championships in seven of the eight individual events and all three relays. Individual qualifiers include Becky Brokish, Kumiko Mase, Molly MacGregor and Annya Lee. Relay qualifiers include team captain Reebok, Mase, MacGregor, Lee and Kleysteuber in the 200 medley relay; Reebok, Maple, Bartels and Kleysteuber in the 200 freestyle relay and Mase, MacGregor, Brokish and Lee in the 400 freestyle relay. The two teams meet again on Jan.29.
