Braelinn Baptist Church is about ready to enter a contract for land which is part of Peachtree City's proposed "west village," to move the congregation from about 19 acres onto 100 acres and expand its ministries. Kristi Rapson, in charge of communications for the church's Relocation Team, says the church and the landowner entered into a Letter of Intent to purchase on Dec. 7, and the contract details are almost finished. Once the property is under contract, studies will be initiated relative to zoning, wetlands, environmental issues, traffic and other considerations. These studies will allow the congregation to determine whether the land can be used for all the purposes for which the congregation wants to grow, Rapson said. The present property at Robinson Road and Crosstown Drive is for sale for $2,999,000, Rapson added. "It's a great bargain for another growing church, for a school, for an arts center," she said. The new building would seat a minimum of 1,200. The property would include recreation fields and a gym, counseling center, classrooms, administrative offices, a clothes distribution center, food pantry and furniture barn. Facilities will be designed for small-group ministry, Bible studies, preschool and after-school programs. The church's move is contingent upon a master plan for development of the west village. City council supports the development but has insisted that annexation will not take place without a master zoning and development plan. The proposed Braelinn Baptist site is located on the northwest side of the intersection of Ga. Highway 54 and 74 and would be accessed by the new Line Creek Parkway, Rapson said.
