First Baptist hosts women's studies

All women in the community are invited to participate in Wednesday Bible studies, from Jan. 13 to May 13, at First Baptist Church of Peachtree City. Childcare is free, and studies range from $10 to $20.

Three studies are available Wednesday mornings, from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. "Finding God," by Larry Crabb, is a six-week series beginning today in the chapel. Facilitators are Shelly Lambert, Deborah Lowery and Alice Redmond. Crabb uses a variety of stories and experiences from his own life to demonstrate that our deepest problem and worst sin is doubting God. "Lord, I Want to Know You," by Kay Arthur, is a 16-week study beginning today led by Sally Belveal in the church's Room C-700. This study on the names of God involves the participant in the learning process and draws her into an intimacy with God in a unique way.

Another 16-week morning study is "Philippians: How to Have Joy," also by Kay Arthur. Jeanie Wyper facilitates this study in Room C-400. This series is intensely practical and deals with many basic truths of this Christian walk, such as handling anxiety, controlling your mind, the purpose of suffering, and the Christian perspective on death.

Wednesday evening studies are available from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m. "Esther, A Woman of Strength and Dignity," is a Chuck Swindoll study being led by Donna Dow in Room C-103. Discover in the book of Esther how God's power and sovereign control can work silently and invisibly behind the scenes for our good and His glory. Karen Parsons leads T.W. Hunt's "The Mind of Christ" in Room C-102. Based on Philippians 2:5-11, this study teaches believers how to think the thoughts of Christ and become like Him.

"Moms for Moms," a study of personalities and relationships, will kick off the year Jan. 22 with a video series, "How to Accept Yourself, Understand Others, and Like Them Anyway," by Eleanor Lewis. The study is from 9:15 to 11 a.m. Jan. 22 through May 21 in Room C-100. Moms for Moms will continue throughout the year to provide programs in parenting skills, home management and marriage enrichment.
