Ware Crowell Orr CallawayWare Crowell Orr Callaway, 80, Morrow, formerly of Fayette County, died Jan. 5, 1999, as the result of a multi-car accident on I-75 in Butts County. He was born April 14, 1918 in Bear Creek, Clayton County, Ga., the son of Howard and Elizabeth Mae Johnson Callaway. He was preceded in death by a son, David Callaway, in 1992. The family moved to Inman, Fayette County, in 1922, where they were active in the Inman United Methodist Church and are buried in its cemetery. After graduating from Fayette County High School, he worked his way through college, attending Emory at Oxford, 1935-1938 and graduating from Emory University in 1939. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, rising to the rank of Lt. Commander. He served as a superintendent of the Clayton County Schools from 1948 to 1952, owned and operated Ware's 5 & 10 in Forest park for 20 years, built and operated in inn in Forsyth, and operated a chain of barbeque restaurants with his sons on I-75. He also served as the editor of the Fayette County News at one time. His love of history and genealogy prompted him to author seven books and he was just beginning to master the computer and complete Volume II of his autobiography. Crypt-side services were held at the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Forest Park, Ga. Survivors include his wife, the former Virginia Glenn, whom he married in April, 1942; sons, Richard Callaway, Seville, Spain, Doug Callaway, Jonesboro, Ga., and Neil Callaway, Savannah; a daughter, Kristen Thomson, Haver de Grace, Md.; and a sister, Blanche Kelly, Macon, Ga. There are five grandchildren, Brian Callaway, Beth Callaway, Virginia Callaway, Lauren Thomson and Erin Thomson. Parkway Garden Chapel, Forest Park, was in charge of the arrangements. Janett Jean BlanchfieldJanett Jean Blanchfield, 73, Peachtree City, died Dec. 31, 1998. She was born Jan. 14, 1925 in St. Paul, Minn. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Blanchfield. Survivors include sons, William Blanchfield, James Blanchfield; daughters, Bobbie Jo Defily and Patricia A. Darrow, and a sister, Ruth. Carl J. Ann Jordan BastAnn Jordan Bast, 75, Peachtree City, died Jan. 2, 1999. She was born June 16, 1923 in Staunton, Va., the daughter of John Paul and Josephine Markley Jordan. She was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College and the Dunsmore Business College. Memorial services were held at the St. Andrews in the Pines Episcopal Church with Father Dan Brigham officiating. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Robert Lee Bast; a son, James Bast, Heartland, Wis.; a daughter, Devon Pfeifer, Peachtree City; and a sister, Betty McClure, Peachtree City. Dorothy Heaton McCallDorothy Heaton McCall, 77, Fayetteville, died Jan. 3, 1999. She was born Jan. 23, 1921 in Hendersonville, N.C. She was preceded in death by three children, Edith Blair, Geraldine McCall and Dallos Ranson McCall. Services were held at the Carl J. Mowell Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Jim Duggan and Chris Kuhne officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. John Clifford AndersonJohn Clifford Anderson, 78, Peachtree City, died Jan. 3, 1999. He was born April 1, 1920 in Cobb County, Ga. He was a decorated Air Force fighter pilot in World War II and also served in the Korean Conflict. Services were held at the Carl J. Mowell Chapel, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Keith Moore officiating. Interment was at Sherwood Memorial Park, Jonesboro. Lt. Col. William H. McMurrayLt. Col. William H. McMurray, USAF, Ret., 73, Peachtree City, died Jan. 5, 1999. He was born Jan. 8, 1925 in Hall County, Ga. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marines. He then entered the United States Air Force, where he was a veteran of Viet Nam, flying the U-2 spy plane. He retired with 32 years of service. Services were held at the Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home Chapel, Peachtree City. Private interment services were held at the Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, Ga. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Marjorie McMurray, Peachtree City; a son, Jock McMurray, Peachtree City; a brother, Wesley McMurray, Duluth; sisters, Elise McMurray, Marie McMurray and Dorothy Stewnman, all of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Erin McMurray, Luke McMurray and Kaitlyn McMurray, all of Peachtree City. James Marion LeeJames Marion Lee, 70, Fayetteville, died Jan. 7, 1999. He was born Jan. 12, 1928 in Heard County, Ga. He was retired from Southern Bell after 35 years of service and was a member of the McDonough Road Baptist Church. Services were held at the McDonough Road Baptist Church with Dr. J. W. Wallis officiating. Interment was at the Franklin City Cemetery, Franklin, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Emma B. Lee, Fayetteville; a son, J. Phillip Lee, Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Marene and Clay Martin, Suwanee, Ga.; and grandchildren, Trey Martin and Meredith Martin.
