Fayette County commissioners will consider the fate of 3.33 acres on Sumner Road, just off Ga. Highway 54, again tomorrow night.

Owners Jack Miller, R.L. Miller and Harold Allen are asking the County Commission to approve O-I (office-institutional) zoning so they can put an office park on the property, but neighbors in nearby Sedgewick and The Landings subdivisions objected during recent Planning Commission consideration of the request.

The Planning Commission is recommending denial, as is the planning staff. The county land use plan calls for residential use of the property, one- to two-acre lots.

Commissioners earlier denied a request for a communications tower on the same lot.

The request is one of seven the commission will consider during its regular twice-month meeting tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the County Administrative Complex, 140 Stonewall Ave.

The county's governing body will consider:

A revised final plat for Bridger Point, adding 1.3 acres to lot 18, and also subtracting .71 acres from the lot. The Planning Commission recommends approval.

A revised final plat for Gantt Acres, phase one, subdividing lot 21 into two lots, of three and two acres respectively. The land fronts on Antioch Road. Planning commissioners and staff recommend denial.

Revisions to the final plat of Cynthia Gaskins subdivision, lot one, and Warren Lake, phase one, lot 20. Owners plan to remove a tenth of an acre from Gaskins subdivision and add it to Warren Lake, also swapping a tenth acre from Warren Lake's lot 20 and adding that to Gaskins. The swap is designed to allow adequate space for a swimming pool and septic lines. Planning commissioners and staff recommend approval.

Richard Junkins' request to rezone five acres from A-R (agricultural-residential) to R-70 (residential requiring lots of at least two acres), to allow two dwelling lots. The land fronts on Antioch Road. The Planning Commission and staff recommend denial.

H. Brian Jackson's request to take .02 acres from the commercial part of his planned development at Corinth Road and Ga. Highway 54, and add it to the office portion of the development. The change will provide adequate frontage on Corinth Road for a fourth office building in the development. Planning commissioners and staff recommend approval.

A request for a communications tower on Sandy Creek Road also is on the agenda, but the request has been withdrawn.

Commissioners also will discuss a new county-wide solid waste management plan required by the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

The tax assessor's office will request additional staff, and commissioners will discuss five other employee position requests that were delayed in earlier discussions.

An employee salary and benefits review committee will present its suggestions for additional retirement benefits, and commissioners will discuss a location for their upcoming annual retreat.
