Fayetteville police are investigating a rash of burglaries over the past week, including three at homes on Landing Drive.

Residents at 190, 210 and 225 Landing Drive are still compiling lists of stolen items for investigators, reports show. Entry at the homes appeared to be through back doors, and all break-ins took place on the night of Jan. 6, according to reports.

Reports also state that during the weekend of Jan. 8-10, two businesses on Ga. Highway 85 were broken into, but again the extent of thefts is not known. Mike Sams Auto Repair personnel told police that a safe was opened, while the owners of Gourmet's Deli Delight also reported valuables taken. Both businesses are on the west side of Hwy. 85 (Glynn Street) south of Ga. Highway 92.

Fayetteville police reports also show that a cab driver, Adebayoa Papoola of East Point, apparently was assaulted by two men who had refused to pay a fare. The incident took place near the Publix at Fayette Pavilion, reports show. Two men were questioned about the incident but the driver did not press charges, officers' reports say.

Other arrests made included Albert John Monkus, 115 Noble Forest Drive, Fayetteville, theft by shoplifting and possession of a controlled substance, caught by store personnel at Eckerd's on Hwy. 85 south with a $134 bottle of prescription drugs; Maria Patricia Rivers of East Point, charged with false statements, forgery in the first degree and theft by receiving stolen property, at the Office Depot in Fayetteville; and Barry Oliver Merritts, 36, of Douglasville, charged with shoplifting two cartons of cigarettes from WalMart, according to reports.
