Coweta County, you're a winner.

In the eyes of judges from around Georgia, Coweta County has one of the best convention and visitors bureaus in the state.

Coweta County public information director Tom Corker said the bureau competed against 49 other visitors centers at the 1998 Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus annual convention in Marietta.

At the conference, Coweta County's center captured several awards including:

Best multi-media campaign for the county's video. The video features several vignettes of the county and offers visitors a virtual roadmap of the county's tourist attractions.

Best collateral material for the brochure the center hands out to visitors.

The brochure features a map of the county and highlights several of the county's annual events such as Powers' Crossroads Arts and Crafts Festival in September and the July 4 celebration at different venues around the county.

Best promotional idea for the 1998 July 4 float sponsored by the visitors' center.

The float was dubbed "Coming Events" and featured large photos of some of Coweta's attractions and giant firecrackers.

The county's visitors bureau is a group of 17 volunteers from all areas of the county that help promote Coweta's attractions to groups from around the state and nation.
