For the rest of 1998, Peachtree City staffers will be occupied with finishing up an "address list" for the year 2000 census, but that's only part of the workload.

City Planner David Rast told the planning commission Monday that the address list is almost finished, but must be returned to the U.S. Census Bureau by the end of the year. He reviewed other upcoming projects the commission will consider, including The Marketplace restaurants, industrial site grading, and a new subdivision.

Final site plans are under review for the Chili's Restaurant at The Market Place, Rast said. Meanwhile, developers of the Don Pablo's Restaurant and World Travel have been notified of additional landscaping requirements because of damage to tree save areas prior to construction.

Rast said trees were cleared in tree save areas, so now the developers are proceeding with enhanced landscaping to replace the disturbed areas. Don Pablo's building is under construction, he added, in an area on the northwest side of the intersection of Ga. highways 54 and 74.

Grading and erosion-control work is under way at a 17-acre industrial site on Hwy. 74 south, Rast said, and preliminary plans have been received for Camden Hills subdivision on Ebenezer Road.

Owners of the Boston Market Restaurant are now replacing trees that died during the fall, Rast said.

Rast also reported that staff is working with the owner of Peachtree Kennels on Fulton Court to install more fencing for noise abatement. Apparently, enough dogs were boarded during the Thanksgiving holidays that neighbors in Planterra Ridge complained about the noise, he said.

"We think the owner has come up with a good plan for noise reduction," Rast said. "It's above what is required." The kennel question will be on the planning commission agenda for Jan. 25, 1999.

The Dec. 28 meeting of the commission has been cancelled. The next meeting is set for Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
