More than 250 dancers from Peachtree City's School of Dance will take the stage at Starr's Mill Auditorium this weekend for the classic Christmas ballet, "The Nutcracker," under the direction of Brenda Hotard. Performances will be on Friday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 20 at 2:30 p.m. Admission at the door is $7 for adults. Children will be admitted free.

The four performances feature two complete casts of dancers from the school. Principal dancers include: Alison Hunter, Kylie Hudgens and Victoria Loureiro as Clara; John Fraser and Tyler Schultz as the Nutcracker Prince; Kevin Brantley as Fritz; Katie McGinn and Mary Katherine Houlder as the Sugar Plum Fairy; and Christina Scasny and Mary Katherine Houlder as the Dew Drop.

"This perfect family Christmas entertainment tells a story that encompasses the best of the best fairy tales," said Hotard. "There are principles of good and evil, a beautiful heroine, a handsome young warrior, a magician, a sorceress queen, a military battle, a blizzard, a journey into space escorted by an angel host, and a beautiful fairy who reigns in an exotic candy kingdom in the sky and entertains her guests with exciting dances from foreign lands," Hotard explained.

Peachtree City's School of Dance is sponsored by the city's recreation department and is in its sixth year under the direction of Hotard. Former productions include the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Les Sylphides and several excerpts from classic ballets.
