The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia is providing on-site project management for the Main Street Fayetteville and Downtown Development Authority of Fayetteville's Historic Hollingsworth House restoration project. Bob Barnard, who is a past president of the local home builders association, has volunteered to serve as on-site project manager and will coordinate the restoration work on the home. Barnard is doing the restoration work through Barnard & Associates Remodeling. "We want to express our appreciation to the Midwest Georgia Association and to Bob Barnard for their willingness to help us with this project," said Mike Faulkner, who serves with San Burch as co-chairs of the Main Street Fayetteville committee overseeing the project. Built in 1906 by Judge Waymon D. Hollingsworth, the house was formerly located on Stonewall Avenue adjacent to the First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. The church recently purchased the house for its land value, and instead of demolishing the structure, the church donated the home to the City of Fayetteville with the provision that it be moved to a new location. With the approval of the Fayette County Board of Commissioners, the city moved the house on county-owned property adjacent to the Fayette County Administrative Complex. The new site is on Stonewall Avenue in the city's historic district about three blocks west of its previous location.
