David Morris, veteran mortgage banker for HomeBanc Mortgage Corporation, will lead HomeBanc Mortgage Corporation's efforts in Peachtree City.

Morris is a graduate of Shorter College and joined HomeBanc in 1994.

"David was the only possible choice to lead the Peachtree City efforts," said HomeBanc's president Pat Flood. "We knew that his knowledge and his dedication would only add to the success of HomeBanc.

Fayetteville chiropractor Dr. Linda Katz is rounding up used luggage to give to children in need this holiday season. The luggage is donated to The Giving Tree in Decatur who distributes the luggage to Georgia's abused and neglected children that do not have permanent homes. The children move from foster home to foster home with their belongings in garbage bags and the Giving Tree wants to see that situation stopped.

Anyone with used luggage can drop it off at Katz's office at 126 New Hope Road in Fayetteville.

Bruce Crisp has joined Griffin Financial Services as a mortgage loan officer.

He is currently assigned to the Fayetteville office, but will eventually join the company's new Griffin office.

Prior to joining Griffin Financial Services, Crisp was in the transportation industry for two years.

Pak Mail Centers of America, Inc., a rapidly growing national franchiser of packaging, shipping and mail service convenience centers, recently announced the grand opening of a new store in Peachtree City.

The store is owned by Bob Benson and his family and is located at 156 Peachtree East Shopping Center.

Pak Mail Centers offer residential and business consumers system packaging; ground, air, express and overnight shipping; private mail box rental; mail call in and forwarding and several other services.

Newnan-based First Citizens Corporation announced a net profit of $1.269 million, or 43 cents a share, for the second quarter that ended Sept. 30. The bank holding company's profits were down tow cents a share from the same quarter in 1997.

Expenses were higher due to charges for the recent computer conversion that allows all three banks to operate on the same system. Additionally, the conversion prepared the company's computers for the year 2000 problems.

Amedisys, Inc., a leading multi-regional provider of alternate site health care services, announced the acquisition of Central Home Health Care in Fayetteville.

The Fayetteville agency will continue to operate under the leadership of Administrator Pam Huffman and will offer a comprehensive menu of home care services ranging from the most basic assistance to sophisticated high-tech medical intervention.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has awarded its Bronze Medal to the Southeast River Forecast Center in Peachtree City for their actions during recent floods.

The center was commended for exceptional hydrologic forecast services to the public and the Emergency Managemet community during the prolonged, record breaking-flood events from Dec., 1997 to March, 1998.

The Bronze Medal is the highest honorary award given by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It is granted by the agency for a significant contribution to NOAA or the Department of Commerce.
